TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- An exhibition dubbed “Iran’s New Generation painters” was opened on Friday evening (November 21) in Geneva at the European Office of the United Nations (UN), the Mehr News Agency reported.

At the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition, Ali-Ashraf Mojtahed Shabastari Iran’s ambassador in Geneva said that painting in Iran has close relations with human sciences.

Shabastari, who is also Deputy Permanent Representative of Iran in Geneva, said that despite having their ups and downs, Iranian painters could successfully transfer various artistic styles from one generation to the next. They could even exploit the art of painting as one way of establishing dialogue among generations.

Pierre Luvare deputy of UN European Office, in turn, said that Iranian painting with its long history has always presented the most attractive works displayed at the UN European office in Geneva.

Describing painting as a way of expressing one’s thoughts and attitudes, he said that Iranians have been very successful in this regard.

Meanwhile, dozens of artworks by 14 Iranian renowned painters will be on show at the exhibition for two weeks – until December 5, 2003.
